Choosing a Graphic Design Program
There are many types of graphic design educational programs available today, these include; certificate programs, associate degree programs, bachelor’s degree programs and graduate programs. There are advantages and disadvantages to every educational program. Your best option will let you meet or exceed your personal career goals. Now we will look at a variety of associate and bachelor’s degree programs, so you can choose your best option.
Professional status: It’s sad to say, but there is often a negative connotation associated with “only” having an associate’s degree. Some employers are biased, thinking the smartest people will have a four year degree, so if you don’t they think you are less important. Some employers may be against individuals who don’t attend a four year program, believing that one the best quality applicants attain these degrees, and that if you don’t, that you are less qualified. This assessment is wrong and unfair, but that’s the way the world works. Employers may be inclined to give jobs or projects to employees with a bachelor’s degree over employees who have an associate degree. With all other variables being even, education always wins out.
Career: You will spend less time in school and more time making money if you get an associate degree, and you will most likely be able to get the same job you would with a bachelors degree.
Price: It is less expensive to get an associate degree than it is to get a bachelor’s degree.
Partially, because the cost is less for a shorter education.
No mater what you chose you will be advancing into a new exciting career that grows as technology improves.
